OA3B15 This is an amazing Vintage pair of Metal Decorative Plates with a Japanese Scene. It was made in Japan as an exclusive for The World Gift Co, Inc. These Wall Hangings are from the 1950s to 1970s when this company was in business. Due to the style of the sticker, I believe it is probably 50s to early 60s. (OA3B15) The scenery has a copper look, but I do not know what kind of metal it is. The World Gift Co was a company with sales reps across the country selling items they handled exclusively. They would offer many items out of their catalog, much like an Avon rep would handle makeup today. The idea was you would look through the catalog and select items to purchase. That is what I understand of the way they sold. This was an exclusive piece, and is VERY difficult to find. In fact, I could not find ANY others like this, which is why I call it rare. They are in great shape, even with the ORIGINAL hanging cords intact! There is one small screw in the back missing on one plate. This will not affect anything and can either be replaced easily, or just glued. I do not repair things because it can affect value just as much as not being repaired. Upon very close viewing, you can see it needs some polishing, and has a few scuffs that should polish right out. The missing screw allows the scene to rotate a bit, so when it moves you can see a slight scratch that will be covered when the screw is replaced. The other plate has some scuffing and small scratching in the flat area, where it seems rubbing in transport or storage might have caused the issue. The backs show some scratching from being laid down, but they cannot be seen when hung on the wall. Condition is everything when dealing with vintage items, but I assure you this will clean up and can be touched up to look like new. These will be some of the most beautiful pieces in a Japanese or East Asian decor. I wish I had the motif to keep these.
